The wind picked up again, but this time it was much more forceful, like a front coming in. A burst of wild and familiar laughter rose up and echoed around the lake. You looked around, bewildered by the thought of Jack, whom you had just seen heartbroken, whooping and laughing around in the sky…
“Did you hear that?” you asked Ettie.
She shook her head, “Hear what?”
So your story hadn’t made her believe…. That was a good thing, you supposed.
“The wind…” you replied.
She was silent, but listened more intently; as if she could hear Jack’s voice if she only tried hard enough…
That couldn’t have been Jack, but it was definitely his laugh…You looked up at the hill you had been dumped on upon your arrival. You did a double take as you saw Father Time gesturing for you to quickly join him. You turned to look at Ettie, and knew that it was time to go. You decided to leave while her back was turned. It was better to disappear without her knowing than to tell her you were going… or worse: where you had come from.
You sped up the hill, and hoped that you would disappear over the other side before she noticed you were gone. You saw Father Time and Jack waiting for you at the bottom of the hill. But didn’t you just hear Jack flying around?
“Unless you want to rip a hole in time and space, I suggest we all duck for cover.” Father Time said after you were in hearing range.
He walked off, his speed surprising you, and headed for the trees. You hurried to follow him with Jack close behind you.
“What’s going o-“ you began, but were cut off by Father Time shushing you.
Suddenly there was a huge blast of wind, one that made your eyes stream. There was only one place you could have wind like that; Burgess winds were very unique…
You saw a figure touch down on the lake. Your heart beat a million miles an hour as you realized that it was Jack. But he was wearing something different… and also Jack was standing right next to you.
“That’s… me.” Jack whispered to himself.
If it had been any other situation, Jack would be making comments about how handsome or cool he looked in the colonial outfit his former self was wearing right about now…
“Hey!” you heard past Jack say. “What’s the matter?”
He was talking to Henrietta, who appeared to still be looking around for you. Past Jack had landed on the ice, but she couldn’t see him.
“How would you like to skate with me?” he asked, “If you want to, just don’t respond and pretend you can’t see or hear me…” he paused as if waiting for Ettie to reply, “I’ll take that as a yes!”
He turned the small patch of snow she was standing on to ice, and she slid out onto the lake.
“Hey!” she protested, “What?” she started to get upset, probably not wanting to re-live the day Jack died.
“C’mon!” past Jack replied, “It’ll be fun!”
He swirled his hand around and tossed some snowflakes in her direction. She seemed stunned for a moment before little giggles erupted from her. Soon, they turned to full-on laughter.
“That’s the spirit!” past Jack said.
He used the wind to blow her around the ice, skating beside her. Ettie was smiling and laughing, no doubt imagining Jack was beside her as an Angel.
You turned to look at the Jack beside you; the one who was over three hundred years older, but still just as much of a teen. He was staring, an unreadable expression on his brow. You got out the handkerchief in your pocket and silently handed it to him. He looked offended and glanced over to make sure Father Time wasn’t watching before accepting it.
You really hoped he was taking this in a good way; he needed to find closure. Even though all he wanted to watch Ettie grow up (three hundred years is an awfully long way to wait to see your sister), you knew, somehow, it just wasn’t meant to be: Ettie had to lose her brother so that Jack could find his true purpose as a guardian.

ROTG Fanfic #1: Family is Forever Ch. 6
Chapter 6
Jack.
"Please, Jack. Don't leave us."
Those words circulated in my mind as I lay unconscious for who knows how long. For a minute, I almost gave up and let go. I know, not like me at all. But something held me. My friends, no, my family held me to the Earth. But my sister gave me the final boost. I had a flashback to my former life, my sister sitting by my bedside. Apparently, I was sick.
"Hey, Em, don't worry. I'm fine." I said weakly, coughing afterward.
"You are not! Quit lying, Jackie! I told you to hold on, not to drop from that tree!" She scolded, her deep brown eyes glassy.
"I know, you're right. I s

Freezing.
You were so damn cold...it hurt.
“J-Jack...I-I'm sorry...p...p-please stop--!”
It wasn't just thanks to the wide open window to your room. It was thanks to the boy who had left it that way, and who was now perched on the bottom board of your bed, crouching on his haunches with his arms resting atop his thighs and an undeniably smug expression.
He knew he had the upper hand here. With little effort, just a wave of his staff, he had turned your once heated upstairs bedroom into a frigid nightmare, colder than even the white-laden landscape of the suburbs outside. You were sitting stiffly and shakily on the top of your sh

A Silver Friend: Prolouge
Jack was absently glazing the side of his chair with an intricate design of frost, not really paying attention to the other Guardians quietly discussing who-knows-what. Jack Frost was glad he was a Guardian, but sometimes being serious wasn’t his thing, and a lot of the time this was a serious job. The Guardians were great friends, but no one really understood him fully, not really. If only he had a friend that was like him, his own age. Well, not 300 years old but, well…
A cough tore his mind from wandering, and Jack became embarrassed as all the other Guardians were staring at him, obviously expecting him to say something
